Director and Country Coordinator of Liberty Lanka International Montessori, Pre-Schools, and Teacher Training Institute.
I was born in Kandy, Sri Lanka, and I studied at Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy, from 1997 to 2010. After completing school, I graduated from New World Teacher Training Institute, Sri Lanka, in 2011, and later from Shandong Normal University, China, in 2023. My majors are in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Child Psychology, Montessori , Pre-School Education, and teaching Chinese Language to speakers of other languages.
My journey as a teacher started when I was in high school because of my mother. She was a teacher, and she encouraged me to follow in her footsteps, saying it was a career that suited me. After completing my training, I began working as an assistant teacher in my mother’s Montessori school, Liberty Lanka International Montessori, Piliyandala, in 2011.
In 2016, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Beijing Sister City International Youth Camp, which was my first visit to China. That experience amazed me—it was like stepping onto a new planet. I was inspired by China’s technology, rapid development, and vibrant culture. It completely changed me and sparked my curiosity about Chinese language and culture.
Two years later, in 2018, I took a significant step and joined Shandong Normal University in Jinan, China, to further my studies. I spent five unforgettable years there, filled with learning, cultural exchange, and growth.
While studying in China, I was fortunate to represent Sri Lanka at various prestigious events, including:
– Shandong International Friendship Day Activities
– First and Third Northeast Asia Youth Camps on Sustainable Development (2021 & 2023)
– The Diversity of ‘Her’: Shandong Times Art Museum International Women’s Forum
– Chinese Bridge Online Exchange Project
– 2024 Global Youth Conference
These experiences allowed me to participate in youth camps, cultural activities, exchange programs, and international conferences, which shaped my perspectives and enriched my journey as an educator.
After graduating, I returned to Sri Lanka and began my career as the Director, Country Coordinator, and Course Director at Liberty Lanka International Teacher Training Institute. I am also the Head Teacher at Liberty Lanka International Montessori and Pre-School.
Teaching has always been my passion, and I am deeply committed to nurturing young minds, fostering cultural understanding, and building bridges between communities through education.
